This is basically the same thing as what he's giving to the group - if you can't make Thursday night, you can try RSVPing for this, in King Of Prussia -- Space is limited... Get on the RSVP List: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pHSWbT0LGJZONyK_RnXYPHQ&hl=en Kyle ------------------------- Toby DiPasquale is coming to HMS for our second [1] HMS Tech Talk! Toby will be presenting an overview of Amazon Web Services [AWS] Elastic Computing Cloud [EC2] Services. This will be a re-presentation of a talk he gave (will give) at Philly Lambda [2] on 7/31/08. AWS EC2 is kind of virtual hosting service where you can set up an AMI (Amazon Machine Images) and then rent CPU time, easily provisioning as many machine instances as you'd like. There is also an accompanying persistent storage service, S3, provided by AWS. This kind of virtualization is a coming trend in our industry and is something we should all be aware of. The invitation is open so please forward this to anyone you feel would like to come. We have room for about 30 people. Room is limited, you will need to RSVP to me so I can make sure we don't overbook our space. Please RSVP to Kyle Burton (kburton@hmsonline.com) as soon as you can. I'll respond letting you know if we can accommodate you. Our building's doors lock at 6pm, so if you arrive and no one is there to greet you, please contact me (Kyle) on my cell phone at: 610.659.6040. Toby DiPasquale is the Chief Architect of InviteMedia, a Philadelphia based startup. Speaker's Bio: Toby has worked with Ruby since 2000 and professionally since 2002. He was the first engineer at TurnTide, an anti-spam startup outside of Philadelphia that was acquired by Symantec in 2004. Today, Toby is the Chief Architect at Invite Media, a Philadelphia-area startup focusing on online advertising optimization software.
