[Philly Lambda] RSVP - August 24th - "The Relational Model, not SQL" by Michael Glaesemann |
Hi All, I don't have the location 100% ironed out yet, but most likely it will be at Drexel again. As usual, we will start the meeting at 6:30PM, but the door will be opened at 6PM. I currently don't have a food sponsor. If your company would like to sponsor it, please let me know. RSVP if you plan to come: http://www.doodle.com/ux2f8iau4stwa7gb Below is the abstract: Most people know relational databases through the lens of SQL as it's by far the most popular language used to access relational databases. However, SQL is far from perfect tool for expressing fully all of the concepts of the Relational Model, the mathematical theory that provides the foundation for working with relational databases. Take a tour of the Relational Model, learn to see SQL in a new perspective, hear about alternatives to SQL, and even discuss what might make a better system! Aaron
