Re: [PhillyOnRails] Anyone using Media Temple's Grid Service?

I haven't had a problem with (mt) gs yet. I used it for 2 months with Mephisto and only noticed 1 500 error, rails app failed to start. I installed a client there with a custom rails app last week and haven't had any problems (well only one, they forgot to install an updated native mongrel gem on my server but fixed it within an hour of calling them, but this was only during the initial setup). I have since moved my personal blog off of (mt) simply because it was too expensive for what I needed. I found A Small Orange and setup an account there. I have to say their support is fantastic, I haven't gotten a reply later than 5 minutes after submitting a ticket. BUT, their service is awful so far. I've had about 3 total outages lasting about 30 minutes each and a database corruption after one of the failures. If you read through ASO's forum, you'll see a lot of similar stories. So I'm in the market for a new low cost, bare bones rails host with consistent reliability.

I took a look at mosso...it's $100 a month. Hell no. I could collocate a box for less than that.

I've used the grid service.  It and it worked just fine for me.  The
problem I ran into that made me switch was that you can only run 1
mongrel instance on the grid server.  I'm now using their dedicated
virtual service, and I'm pleased with it.
