qrpff


I've been hired by Wired magazine to explain 'qrpff.pl', which is an
obfuscated Perl program that descrypts CSS, the encoding used on DVDs.

I knew when they contacted me that the goal was to write something
that could be read in five minutes and which would give the reader an
impression of having learned something without actually imparting any
information.  That is the Wired Way.

Of course, my first try did not achieve this.  But you folks might be
interested in the draft, which is briefly available at
