Although I agree that parts of TRIZ are bogus, I think Cringley is an
idiot here:

"For one thing, if TRIZ is so good, why didn't Communism prevail?"

Hm, maybe it's because Stalin had Altshuller, the founder of TRIZ,
thrown into the gulag?
