This is an unusual, and bit off-topic, request. I'm doing a public radio piece on something called a Curta calculator, a post WW2 mechanical calculator that was a marvel of engineering and functional design. For the piece, I need the sound of one operating. Unfortunately I don't own one myself (they are prized collectors items, typically going for $500-$1000 on eBay). But I've heard of more than a few cases of programmers owning one. By any chance, does anyone here have one, and would they be willing to loan it out to me, or bring it to the WHYY studios in downtown Philly at a mutually convenient time in the next couple of weeks so we can record the sound of it? <FONT Face=Verdana Size=1>This e-mail is intended solely for the above-mentioned recipient and it may contain confidential or privileged information.
