Andrew I was going to list this as a benefit, but voicenet does not offer shell accounts anymore. Long-time customers such as you and I have handy shell accounts on unix01.voicenet.com, but new customers do not get this benefit. I wasn't actually aware of the 10 hour connect limit, that's a major con for some people. You might wish to point out that they have another advantage of some ISPs - I can telnet in to my shell account from anywhere. Since moving to the Poconos I had to open up an account with another ISP for local dial-in access and they will not let me telnet into my shell account accept from within their network - heck the girl on the phone did not know what a shell account was!! They also list linux as being a supported OS on their web page here again the girl had no clue as to what I was talking about. So to make a long story short had to ask the correct windows questions to get the info needed for my linux box. If Voicenet gets some local dial-in up here in the boonies I'll drop this Epix account like a hot potato. Besides there is a 10 hour connect limit so I can't do the extended ISO image D/Ls I used to do under Voicenet. Well I'll just keep the two ISP's and make the best of it. That shouldn't be hard to find. I myself use Comcat (www.comcat.com). I have been using them for three years. Setting up a connection in linux was no problem even though they are sun based. And my friend even said the tech support helped him setup his account in linux. The have plenty of But hey, I'm assuming you live in the 215 area code. Here's where you'll find a list of ISP's in that area code: http://thelist.internet.com/areacode/215.html But the best would be to ask some people what ISP's they are using. Word of mouth is often the best way to find about an ISP. I can personally account for about three people I have pointed towards comcat, and I will continue to recommend them. Hope I could help, Xtian Betz P.S. Hey did that area code thing go into effect yet? _______________________________________________ Plug maillist - Plug@lists.nothinbut.net http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug _______________________________________________ Plug maillist - Plug@lists.nothinbut.net http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug _______________________________________________ Plug maillist - Plug@lists.nothinbut.net http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug _______________________________________________ Plug maillist - Plug@lists.nothinbut.net http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug
