Re: [Plug] redhat, linksys, and suburban@home :-(

Nooo, I don't have a private network, it's just one box, the ethernet goes
directly from that into the cable modem. The problem is I get no network
connectivity whatsoever. I can't ping anywhere on the @home network.
I've double check /etc/resolv.conf, and /etc/hosts many times. Since I use
redhat, i've gone through netconf, and made sure everything was filled in
there which it was. What I found on the cable modem mini-howto was to try
and use dhcp with the -h option. I will be trying it out this evening.
The guy from suburban told me how they set it up in windows is to obtain
ip automatically, disable wins, and enable dns, and that they don't do it
statically because my ip *might* change, but probably not. He also said
something to the effect of that im in the @Home workgroup, and that it
sees my hostname, and then gives me whatever ip is associated with that
hostname. So I guess that dhcp -h makes sense, I will just have to try
it.
