Now, on to other problems. My brother got a compaq prosignia 486Dx/66 and I've been trying to get linux to install on it. (We both hate windows and he loves the applications (and games) that come with redhat.) The problem is that the compaq comes with the ncr53c710 eisa fast scsi 2 controller. I haven't been able to get the card to be recognized using the ncr53c7,8xx driver. The old scsi howto document really is out of date and is no help whatsoever. Has anyone had any luck getting one of these systems to work? Does anyone know if the ncr53c7,8xx driver will work on this system (or does this require some kernel hacking?).
