Good point. I don't know if security would end up being an issue, but if it
did I'm sure that some cheap off the shelf parts exist for that kind of
thing. Outdated military hardware could be used for that.

The device would have to be sophisticated enough to handle ssh or something
like it, or everyone with a radio could sniff your traffic.
could you use rf (or whatever HAM radio ops use?) to tranismit the data?
