Are you using XFree86? Look for Xconfigurator. You can also try monkeying around with /etc/X11/XF86Config (or wherever your system puts it) directly. That's how I tweaked the monitor settings for my system. Unfortunately, I'm running too old of a server to properly support more than 256 colors (8 bit) with my video card, but at least I was able to jack up my monitor refresh settings so that it doesn't flicker. For refresh, you want to look for HorizSync and VertRefresh and set them to the ranges supported by your monitor. For example, mine are set to 30-96 and 50-180, respectively. Be careful to choose the right settings, though, because the wrong ones can damage your monitor. --Josh Daniel G Roberts wrote: > bumer...I am already on my third install..maybe if I pick a generic monitor as > the type instead on the actual model number I may get better resutls?? > > Dan Mike Wilson wrote: > > > I gave up, and reinstalled !!
