Wow, I just checked this util out & boy is it impressive! It's so fully featured and even resumes d/ls that were cut off. Forget NS!

try wget(1) for unattended downloads...hardly uses any memory...
start it in differnet windows...

there's not all that much bandwidth to slice up on a modem connection
anyway.
