I've installed Oracle 8.0.5 twice on plain vanilla RedHat 5.2 with no problems. Just yesterday I succeeded in installing 8.1.5.1 on my plain vanilla RedHat 6.0 box. It did take a few quirky 'workarounds' to their instructions. But in the end I was able to use SQL*PLUS and connect to the sample database. I haven't truly tested the installation to make sure it works, though. You will need both the 8.1.5 CD/download *and* the 6MB 8.1.5.1 patch. Also, don't even *think* about trying to install without 128MB. The (Java-based) installer hit a max of about 150MB used, with other Oracle-related processes taking up another 40MB. It was hitting my swap a bit more than I would have liked. -=$>Dave<$=- "Jason S." wrote: > > Here's a url a friend sent me.
