Is NFS a bad thing? I've got all my ports locked tight (or so I think), ran the latest SAINT against the machine (heavy+) and it only found two potential problems (but not with NFS). The warning came up as: login: lockd: connect from unprivileged port: a.b.c.d:e<4> lockd: accept failed (err 11)! lockd: accept failed (err 11)! The connection came from a location where I expected it to come from (I asked for the scan). This is the only warning that popped. If I remove NFS, what other services will be affected? Actually, you should make sure that you aren't using anything that uses the NFS services, such as AMD (one of the various automount daemons). Michael W.
