8am to 9am - Back to Basics : Why is Ethernet and Network Management 
still critical to your E-Business infrastructure ? 

This hour long introduction is for network managers of large Ethernet 
networks. We will discuss common problems associated with Ethernet and 
large multivendor networks. Emphasis will be on education and management 
techniques so that your staff can effectively solve problems and easily 
manage the day-to-day operations of your Ethernet infrastructure. 



9:30am to 4:00pm - Ethernet Technologies Management 

This section will explain all aspects of Ethernet technologies currently 
in use as well as how to effectively manage a large Ethernet 
infrastructure. This will be a highly technical course recommended for 
anyone currently working in a large Ethernet environment. The following 
subjects will be discussed. 

Ethernet Concepts - Will cover the timing, synchronization, media access 
controls, digital signaling, and common error conditions seen on 
Ethernet protocol analyzers. Several live trace examples will be used. 

Fast Ethernet - A detailed introduction to the next level of Ethernet 
networks. Repeater rules, encoding, and architecture will be thoroughly 
discussed. 

Gigabit Ethernet - Building upon concepts already discussed we will be 
explain the newest in Ethernet Technologies at the Gigabit levels. 

Switching and VLANs - Current switching and VLAN architectures will be 
discussed. A detailed guide to Cisco Ethernet technologies will be 
included. 

Managing Ethernet Networks - A full and complete discussion on the 
required tools necessary for maintaining a highly tuned error free 
network. Products from Shomiti Systems will be featured in a live 
environment.
