A firewall thats not properly administered is worse than useless. It
gives a false sense of security. The best firewall is one you can 
maintain and monitor. Linux is a great choice. So is *BSD. Checkpoint
on solaris is also very nice. I stay away from windows. I dont trust it.
I've had too many problems too many times. Win2000 server? Thats not
exactly tried and true. How important is the firewall? Is this a 
learning thing or a production machine? The answers to those questions 
should help point you in the right direction.
