This sounds like it's doing exactly what you're telling it to do. There is a fair amount of output while it's shutting down, as various services are stopped, etc. If you want to have it actually reboot, use the -r option instead of -h. Alternately, if you're actually at the computer, CTRL-ALT-DEL will accomplish what you want, also. Michael W.
