I use the LRP from a diskette. Runs on an old 486, 16M RAM. Port scans show it to be very tightly closed to incoming (4 ports open - telnet, http, dns, and ... something; I forget right now). And I can close the telnet and http if I want. Nice. Easy. And the gateway machine itself doesn't even need a hard drive. > It is. > You do. > Check out the linuxrouter project, I have had some luck working > with it. > www.linuxrouter.org > and also lrp.c0wz.com has extensive links on the subject. > LRP can run off a floppy... > > > On Tue, 11 Apr 2000, Michael Whitman wrote: > > > I want to build a firewall using RH 6.0, or 6.1. > > I hear that firewall capability is built into the linux kernel. > > Do I need to recompile the kernel after the standard RH > installation? ______________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group - http://plug.nothinbut.net Announcements - http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion - http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug
