I've been asking for help on my firewall system in two different threads now (the 2.2 Firewall thread and the 3com NIC thread). I thought I'd summarize my current problem. All addresses have been converted to private class C addresses out of paranoia. :) Mandrake 7.0 system (2.2.14 kernel) with two (2) 3com 905BTX-NM NICs. The NICs are aliased as "eth0" and "eth1", and are using the 3c90x module that comes with the kernel. Both NICs work fine independently in the system (although when I removed the eth0 NIC, I had to move the eth1 NIC to the same physical slot). Both interfaces start up fine. Interface Address Mask Network eth0 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.128 192.168.1.0 eth1 192.168.1.129 255.255.255.128 192.168.1.128 eth0 is designated as the interface for the default gateway, with a gateway address of 192.168.1.19. IPV4 forwarding is enabled. Not other routing configuration has been done (also, neither routed nor gated are installed). Firewalling has been turned off. >From the console, I can ping the address for both interfaces. I can also ping any address within the 192.168.1.0 network, as well as the Internet at large. From within the 192.168.1.0 network, I can ping both interfaces on the system (192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.129). If I place a system on the 192.168.1.128 network with an address of 192.168.1.130, a mask of 255.255.255.128, and a gateway of 192.168.1.129, it cannot ping 192.168.1.129, nor anything beyond the system in question. I've not setup a multi-homed Linux system before (I've built an NT-based static router), so I may be missing something basic. Any help would be appreciated. Michael W.
