that goes into faxing.

Faxing is easy, and pretty common place these days. It's a combination of two things - a communications protocol (actually two of them - one for phone lines/serial comm, and one for TCP/IP Internet) for transferring commands and "bits", and then a file format (CCITT g4) for the image ("bits") to go across the lines.

More along the lines of is there a software package
that would allow us to recive a incoming fax in a Computer.. be it windows or
linux... and then send that fax to a printer.

There are a LOT of them for Windows - do a search on <http://www.winfiles.com> or elsewhere. Some for Unix/Linux have already been mentioned.
