I The NetGear FA310TX has worked well for me. I believe it uses the Tulip driver, the cost is ~$20-22. I have an Archtek Smartlink 5634TS which I purchased at CompUSA for ~$60. It has a TI chipset, supports V.90 and x2, and was a no-brainer to get working in Linux, but I don't see it in CompUSA's online inventory anymore.
