It may be illegal primarily because there are members of in this group who
are not yet 18 years of age. He provided no mechanism to restrict the
viewing of this image to anyone not of age. I would assume that this would
be considered "corrupting the morals of a minor" at the very least.
Similarly, what if he had sent pictures of minors performing this act?
Then, he'd be guilty of peddling child pornography and could make us
unwitting accomplices having received the picture (you did delete
it...right?).
But, IMHO, it shows extremely poor taste and judgement to send this to a
public list.

Why would this picture be illegal in any way?
It is of course in poor taste to send it to a public list,
(and off topic to say the least) but certainly not illegal.
Maybe we can sue him for emotional damages, and pain and suffering.
