RE: [PLUG] backup

I haven't been following up too much since I've installed FreeBSD. I know
there was some question about the flower show and the meeting. Can anyone
tell me when the meeting is and where this month. Thank you

Subject: [PLUG] backup

I know this subject was covered in the last meeting but unfortunately I was
unable to attend(new baby).

I am going to be hosting/supporting a linux webserver and database server,
and I am not yet familiar with
how to effectively backup and restore using linux. (Have done it with
NT) I dont think I will need to back up anymore than 20 or 30 gig total in
the near future. Do i just write a script to tar /etc and other config
files as well as data? Then if I have a drive failure reinstall the OS and
applications and restore config scripts and data? Anyway these are things
i need a bit of help thinking through.

Can anyone recommend an online resource that might help me evaluate my
needs?
Harware/software recommendations?

Thx
