Sure, that'll probably work (though some people are less strict than
they should be about what changes happen when).
Still probably better to be at the highest minor version number, no?
(Programs, incidentally, should always link against libFOO.so.1, as
opposed to libFOO.so.1.5; the former will be a sym link to the
latter.)
