[srdas@ezra srdas]$ ls -l /dev/dsp
crw-------    1 srdas    audio     14,   3 Apr 14 07:06 /dev/dsp
[srdas@ezra srdas]$ ls -l /dev/audio
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     audio           6 May 18 11:00 /dev/audio ->

[srdas@ezra srdas]$ ls -l /dev/audio0

[srdas@ezra srdas]$ !play
play /usr/share/sounds/logout.wav
sox: Can't open output file '/dev/dsp': Device or resource busy

The same thing happens with xmms or realplay - but the CD players work

In case it's helpful,
[srdas@ezra srdas]$ /sbin/lsmod
