There is a product called" Internet Exchange Mail Server. It is supposed to compete with Exchange http://www.ima.com/. Also, HP Open Mail although ythey aren't going to be updating anymore may be another route.

How about a Lotus product? I doubt that it has any open
source, but it is non-Microsoft.
