I maintain a web site with another individual and we each have our own server accounts we use to update web pages. We both belong to the same group but we have individual user accounts. All web pages are owned by one of us and our common group. Permissions are set to 664 so that we should be able to edit each other's files and upload over the others files. The problem is we can't upload over each others files...when the remote file is owned by the other person... (using the windows version of non-free SSH, it has the best windows gui and we're non-profit so it's free to us) but we're in the same group and the group has the same permissions as the owner. Does the remote machine first delete the old file and rewrite the new file (only the owner should be able to delete a file right?)? Does it open the file for overwriting? Why is this not working?
