[PLUG] LinuxWorld

I too will not be attending Linux World NYC, as much as I would like
to.. it would have also been an opportunity to visit the WTC Platform,
which I *need* to do one of these days. I have determined that I have
some issues related to my nonprofit/environmental work on the evenings of
the 30th and the 31st, and have decided to make them a priority. (I may
still go up on the 1st, but I doubt it, cause everything is so hurried on
the last day.)

I wanted to note for any attendees, if you have the opportunity...

(I haven't stated this before) but due to the success and the interest in
the philadelphia/east coast 10th anniversary picnic last year, and the
request to do it again, I am going to tentatively set it again for August
25th, 2002, which is a Sunday this year. All details will remain the same
as last year, unless someone has some better suggestions. Please feel
free to spread the word about it (i.e., while you're at LWCE NYC) If you
wish, you are more than welcome to print up/copy some flyers/other
handouts for distribution about the event to any groups. Note: this is
not really a linux specific event, all members of the related communities
are more than welcome, and invited, so please pass on the word.. BSDers,
etc are MORE than welcome. Darxus (or someone) please put this on the
calendar. Old/original site (not updated) from last year is at
http://philadelphia.linux10.org or http://philly.linux10.org

SCHWAG, t-shirts, and more.
Hum, well, since I'm not going, I will miss any opportunities to get
schwag this year. :( In relation to this, I have some old schwag that I
wish to trade with others for other stuff, or dispose of in other
ways.. and I have some stuff I desire. Primarily my available stuff is
never-worn geek t-shirts... I have some that I am just not interested in
wearing, as I'm sure you do too from collecting at this and other
conferences.

So, if you have a chance to pick up some extra SHTUFF, or come home and
find you have some stuff you don't want, consider trading.

Increase your GeekPoints(tm) Coolness Quotient(tm) by having a different
Geek-T for every day of the year, by trading with me! :)

Stuff I'm interested in: a stuffed Geeko (SuSE's mascot), baseball caps,
or other chapeaus (redhat has been known to have red berets, baseball caps,
and even fedoras.. other companies of course typically have baseball
caps with their logos), enamel pins, Daemon News Magazines, other tshirts
in colors/and/or with logos that I like. . (I primarily like black or
other solid-color t-shirts in size XL (I can fit large but like the space
of XL), primarily what I have to trade are white tshirts, although I do
have 1 in each of the following: blue (medium) very nice shirt, but it
doesn't fit, sagent in heather, aduva in yellow.. and maybe more. I'm
also interested in a white-wireframe daemon on black-t of openbsd, but
openbsd doesn't give anything away typically. (I'm also pro-netbsd, but
don't have anything specific I'm interested in.)

Oh and for the people who said the R3, even though it was corrected.. I
want to add a special warning... Whatever you do, make sure you catch the
R7 NOT the r3... if you find yourself on the r3 in west trenton, you will
find it A HECK of a LOT HARDER than one one expect to get from the west
trenton station to the trenton station.

Oh, and for anybody driving... PARKING: The BEST place to park is a
company called Public Parking, Inc... they have lots.. their logo is
typically on a billboard or large sign... a P made out of a road (black
with a white line down the center) Yellow also figures prominently in
their logo. Parking ALL DAY is about $10, any other place is a LOT more
expensive, unless you are parking for free or low cost at the hotel you
are staying at. from the javits website:

Public Parking Inc. 1.800.322.PARK

                                493 10th Av 38th St & 10th Av
                                484 10th Av 37-38th St & 10th Av
                                519 9th Av 39th St & 9th Av
                                475 9th Av 37th St & 9th Av
                                550 W 37th St (Btw 10th Ave & 11th Ave)

I think they also have a website somewhere..

also, it used to be that there is a coupon that you could get in the
javits center guide (a little pamphlet) that you can pick up at the javits
center, to get $2 off when you pay, I never actually used it myself, $10
is a bargain, and the lots are SO convenient.

And the javits website if you want to check it out:

this is going to be the first major nyc linux event I miss since going
to the bazaar in 98(?). :(
