That sucks, but not unexpected. :( It would explain why I couldn't ssh into my box this morning from work--I just assumed they were changing my IP and it hadn't updated on dyndns.org yet. Maybe they're just blocking incoming ports < 1024, so I could run ssh on a non-standard port. Won't help with incoming email servers and standard-port web access, though. :( Comcast's switchover letter mentioned a Comcast.net Professional service but I've yet to find any hard details on this service. -- Lon -----Original Message----- From: W. No HTTP,HTTPS,SSH or email server. I complained and asked if there was an upgrade service which would allow me to have these services - neither got any results. Considering DSL is in the $160/month range - cable modem is still the cheapest alternative for high speed download combined with a dial-up for other remote services. yikes! anyway- maybe if enough people complain, they will change the policy. -chris ______________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group - http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements-http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug ______________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group - http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements-http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug
