-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 [NetSol] > Am I a fool for sticking with these guys at $29/yr ...? Yes. :) They are overpriced, arrogant, and incompetent, as well as being unrepentant spammers. Abandon them as soon as you can. > I received quite a few solicitations from other registers that will 'take > over' all of my accounts. I am a little scared to do that but tempted. I use 000domains.com but almost anyone but NetSol and Dotster are good choices. Don't pay more than $14 per year. You can get it for much less if you look around. I like 000 because they have a very easy to use web interface, and they make transferring domains very painless. They charge $13.50 a year. There are slightly cheaper ones which are probably just as good; this just happens to be the one I am used to and staying with. Shop around - the market is way better than it was a few years ago. :) > Any ever do a wholesale switch? Yes, all the time. Keep in mind a few caveats when switching registrars: 1) You must be able to receive mail at the admin contact 2) It cannot be brand new - it must be at least 60 days since the date or creation or renewal. 3) The domain should not expire, or be close to expiring. How close depends on the registrar, but generally if it expires in about 10 days or less, it may be easier (and prevent possible complications) just to renew with the curent one, then make the switch in 60 days. Prying domains away from Network Solutions used to be very hard work, but it is fairly easy now, as they are bound by new rules and must transfer the domain the same as everyone else. And yes, you get credit for any time remaining on your domain. :) Greg Sabino Mullane greg@turnstep.com PGP Key: 0x14964AC8 200202181202 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Comment: http://www.turnstep.com/pgp.html iD8DBQE8cTVcvJuQZxSWSsgRAg9cAJsG6F1FKNs0TqUCMgVy+nWlawNCewCeNK+i ljIywGOF23HMLGh2C00jU5U= =E8Hz -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ______________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group - http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements-http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug
