Now driving and talking is another matter.  I don't think there should be
specific laws against phone use in the car (because I don't favor adding
even more laws to our tangled web of contradictory laws), but I think that
it should be avoided.  

In particular, it freaks me out when my girlfriend talks on the phone when
she's driving (bear in mind, she drives about once or twice a year, and
then it's on the "wrong" side of the road, which makes me nervous to begin
with).
