Yes, this is because X has basicly 2 clipboards.  Basic applications all use 
the X clipboard.  Ideally in KDE 3.0 this has been fixed so the clipboards 
sync.  The problem was KDE would write to the Qt clipboard (that could handle 
sound, pictures, text, etc..) but it would not always sync up to the X 
clipboard.

Basicly update to KDE 3.0 and you will be all set :)
