[PLUG] Java Plugin Problems

I am running Mandrake 8.1. I cannot get the java
plugin to function correctly in netscape or opera (as
well as konqueror, but I haven't tried much in that).
When I go to the URL "about:plugins" in either
browser, everything comes up ok, so I know that it's
finding the plugin. In netscape, when I go to a page
that has a java applet, netscape just closes, in
opera, nothing loads. I am running netscape 6.2.1 and
opera 6.02. The java plugin is 1.4.0, in opera I had
to use the ns4 plugin because opera comes with a
plugin proxy for that, and in netscape I used the
ns610 plugin. Any help is MUCH appreciated, thanks!
