You heard right! What I was referring to is a development server, not a production powerhouse. OK, a mirrored drive or some other type of backup is recommended.

Actually, I'm not sure whether the requested recommendation was for PC or Sun hardware.

No, there really is a difference between workstation-class and
server-class hardware.

Servers have ECC RAM, remotely administrateable BIOSes, hardware
RAID, and SCSI rather than IDE. Some of those things can be add-ons,
and some of them can not.
