Just got a SL-C700 from dynamism. Finally, 80x24+ssh in my pocket. If any Zaurus users would like to show up to the next meeting, I'd love to pick brains and let people play a bit with the SL-C700. Or we could get together informally this weekend if anyone's interested. I also just got NetBSD running on a Jornada 720. Slightly annoying, as it requires recompiling the kernel to change PCMCIA mappings - how insane is that? But it is also an interesting 80x24 ssh + 802.11 possibility, esp. with a 16+ hour extended battery. Anyway, re: the Zaurus: Compiling fetchmail, screen, elm, and tin should be easy, I'm sure. My main goals now are: - Lower-power 802.11 than the DLINK DCF-650W, which sucks juice so hard when it's on battery that it quickly thinks it's got no battery life left. - Get the Audiovox RTM8000 working (doesn't like it as a serial device now). However, I can always use IRDA or serial in the mean time. - Also, though it could be ugly, playing with a CF->PCMCIA adapter and the Aircard 555 could be an option. Someone claims to have made it work on a 5500. Thanks, Avi _________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug
