Why wait? NetBSD 1.6 is quite stable on sparc64, has been there way longer than FreeBSD, and presents about the same interface... Right. NetBSD and OpenBSD are kissing cousins, and both are production ready and mature on sparc architecture. FreeBSD is still mostly testing the waters. For Linux, Debian and Aurora are the two big flavors that work well on sparc. SuSE is rumored to work well but I don't play much with the pseudo-free Linux distros so I can't vouch for SuSE on sparc.
