heya,

i think the biggest factor to how simple this is going to be has
to do with what what was running on the old box being taken out
of commision.  if they're both redhat, i believe* you should be
able to copy the related lines over.  you'll also probably want
the related lines of /etc/group as well, and other than that you
shouldn't get too many headaches.  just remember to preserve file
attributes when you tar/pax/rsync/whatever everything over.  some basic
stuff i'd keep an eye out for:

- overlapping/conflicting uids on the new system
- overlapping/conflicting gids on the new system
- changed gids for distribution-specified groups or users
- the existance of all the shells that the users use
- if the old box isn't redhat, differences in passwd/shadow formats
