Hello all, I'm looking to purchase a new laptop, probably within the next week, and I wanted to get an idea what the PLUG users recommended. I plan to purchase a mid-range laptop, spending around $1,500.00, for both work and school. I realize almost all laptops come bundled with WinXP now (aside from Apple) but that's not a problem as work requires me to use WinXP anyway. However, I have to be able to install Linux as well! And, I don't want to purchase a laptop without first identifying whether or not I can install Linux without too much trouble--driver issues. As an example, I was looking at the Toshiba Satellite notebooks--the 2415-S205 notebook or even the 2435-S255 notebook. I've also looked at the Gateway 400XL notebook and the Sony VAIO PCG-GRZ610. I've searched through linux-laptop.net and Tom's Hardware for recent reviews--with respect to Linux installation--but I haven't been able to find anything related to newer laptops. I was hoping the people on this list could suggest a laptop without driver issues. Thanks!
