Re: [PLUG] Laptop Recommendations

Well, I wouldn't even consider Mac before OS X. OS 9 is crap as far as I'm concerned.

How much does the Virtual PC software cost? Are more Linux people running Macs since the introduction of OS X? What about Yellow Dog Linux?

I have a Dell Inspiron 8100. It runs Linux (Red Hat 7.3) and XP. The only real problem is has is battery power management, which is critical for mobile use Between the BIOS, nVIDIA GeForce2 Go video card, and X there is something wacky. Last time I checked, disabling video acceleration was one solution to the power management problem. The 8100 is very sensitive to BIOS updates.

From what I've heard, many Linux people prefer Toshibas.

And don't forget, with Virtual PC installed on an iBook you can still
run XP on the Apple (without shutting down OS X)!
