I added the dhcp option line "hostname Emerald" to the "iface eth0 inet dhcp" stanza. Per "man interfaces" it looks like the appropriate answer to me. I did a "ifdown eth0", then an "ifup eth0" but the LinkSys GUI still has no hostname entry for it... I don't seem to have dhcpcd either; might this be a LinkSys issue which a different DHCP client under Debian would make work? --> -----Original Message----- --> From: plug-admin@lists.phillylinux.org --> [mailto:plug-admin@lists.phillylinux.org]On Behalf Of sean finney --> Sent: Monday, March 03, 2003 10:30 PM --> To: plug@lists.phillylinux.org --> Subject: Re: [PLUG] How to pass HOSTNAME to LinkSys DHCP server? --> --> --> can't say that i've ever tried this myself, but try the 'hostname' --> and 'client' options in /etc/network/interfaces (man interfaces), --> they look like they might be what you want to do. --> --> --> sean --> --> On Mon, Mar 03, 2003 at 10:10:05PM -0500, kaze wrote: --> > My Debian box, Emerald, gets an IP address and all that good --> stuff from the --> > LinkSys box, but in the LinkSys GUI the hostname Emerald does --> not appear in --> > the DHCP clients table.
