Assuming you're still thinking about this, my recommendation is this: *I wouldn't order too many "naked", as MS would call them. I assume you can do your minimum order, and ask for 10% with blank HDs? Or is it a large minimum order of naked machines? Realistically, no more than 15% of the laptop market is going to consist of: (Linux/BSD users + people wanting to install an old boxed Win 98 + people with warez copies of XP) *Pick a distro which is free, easy-to-use and major, like Mandrake, and develop your standard install. Image it to all of the naked drives so that: A)You can verify that the machine is working, and B)A customer can see his machine working before he takes it home *If someone's advanced enough to want another distro, they're advanced enough to have their own ideas on partitioning, so it's a waste of time to worry about preinstalls for them. They can see it works with Mandrake, so let them handle installing Gentoo with seven partitions. Good luck! Greg Helledy -- Privileged/Confidential information may be contained in this message.
