I have bought two of the HP multi-function printers (I think the models 
are a T45 and a V45) and have been very happy with them with linux. 
They were inexpensive and HP provides linux drivers for them.  I think 
the "hpijs" drivers (or, ghostscript converters?) are even supplied with 
recent linux distributions.

The ink, of course, is not cheap.  And they're not lasers, which is 
sometimes a problem.
