I've got the packet and need to fill out the paperwork and send in the checks for the various clearances. You need a child abuse clearance certificate (I've gotten this for another job but the agency I worked for kept it and each job requires its own cert); an official transcript from your BA program (I don't know if they'd also want transcripts from my masters programs), and if you've been resident in Philadelphia for less than a year or three, you also need an FBI check clearance. The child abuse clearance certificate requires listing every place you've lived since 1975, and the City's web site for substitute teaching jobs says not to show up without the clearance and the transcript. Getting the clearance takes a couple of weeks in my prior experience. I just haven't gotten around to filling out the paperwork and writing the checks to the appropriate agency and Columbia U. Anyone who sees having to do this coming up in a month or two so should call for the paperwork packet now and get the ball rolling. The possible plus for me is that I may be able to convert some of my graduate school courses to education training equivalents and actually have a minimum of coursework toward getting the teaching cerificate. -- Rebecca Ore http://mysite.verizon.net/rebecca.ore _________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug
