Re: [PLUG] What is /proc/kcore

Everything in /proc is in memory. /proc is not taking up any disk space. If you do a du on /proc you will find:

sudo du -hs /proc
0 /proc

/proc/kcore is the kernel core memory. Notice only root can read it for security reasons.

- -r-------- 1 root root 512M 2003-08-12 09:58 /proc/kcore

If you want to see what is going on in your system do a cat on some of the files in /proc.

cat /proc/cpuinfo

reveals:

processor : 0
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family : 6

I find I have a 200M+ /proc/kcore file in my RedHat
7.3. What is it? It is read-only and I can't change
it's mod and delete it. How to reduce it's size?

Thanks
