Use a service like dyndns.org. 

You can sign up for hostnames xxxx.homelinux.org or others.

And then CNAME that to xyz.mydomain.com.

Last time I checked, this was free.

Add:

search mydomain.com.
to /etc/resolve.conf on the querying machine.
