dpkg -i *does* work; I was wrong about that. i downloaded the perl debs from
testing (perl, perl-modules, libdb4,libgdb (sp?)) and was able to install
them. No good. "apt-get -f install" still fails. Running "perl -v" gives me


line 1: syntax error near unexpected token ')'
line 1: elerator_text)))

Anything else I cantry? If I can't fix it real soon, I'll just have to start
all over again; i don't have the time to trouble-shoot in the dark,
unfortunately.
