RE: [PLUG] verizon DSL- dialup tangent

i have been glancing over your trials and tribulations.
seems you have some experience with linux dialup.
just setup a linux 9 box, ppp dialup, ip masquerading, etc.
all is well EXCEPT ...
cant get connect speeds(usr internal 56k) to earthlink > 40k
must be a config tweak
any thoughts?

here are a couple of the config files also the /etc/ppp/options file
contains nothing (well actually all lines are commented out) there was
one other debug output i didnt get whish i wish i did it would show the
actual data being sent and recv'd but i couldnt remember how to get it
when i was there... also i cycled the power on the dsl modem and the
machine... (first the computer turned on and then when it was at the
login turn on the dsl modem) now that i have been able to look at this
in detail maybe i should also try chap authentication?

any ideas would be appreciated..
