A friend had his copy of Windows ME self-destruct

Heh, the only time I work with WinME is when I'm trying to repair it!

I told him to send me a copy of his /etc/fstab file, and he said that he
did a search, but there's no fstab in /etc. Is this possible, and if so,
anyone know where SuSE is keeping fstab these days?

Try "locate fstab". Or "man fstab" might help; file locate is indicated near the bottom of the man page.
