Then increment the integer in the file. (Probably want to do some sanity checking on the file... like, that it's not a sym link to /etc/passwd, for instance.) You should also probably echo what local port you used to the terminal. I see how you got where you were, but you may have noticed that it was kind of difficult to do it the way you were trying to.
