How come _noone_ in any of these gmail threads sends from @gmail.com?

Not subscribed with that email address. I also have to log into the web interface to read from it. I like having my mail in the background while I'm working on other stuff (presently listening to music and working on a novel).

A friend sent me an invitation so I could use a throwaway address for posting to various web things and Usenet. I haven't changed my profiles for posting to use it yet, though. I probably will for outer Usenet, but not for nntp private hierarchies.

Some people are using gmail to archive mailing list traffic -- forwarding all list traffic to their gmail accounts. I've seen some mention of perl scripts to expedite this. Can try to snarf one of them if I remember to do this when I'm logged on tonight.
